Our Process

Every project needs a distinct visual identity to stand out in today's market.

Many studios lack a permanent Art Director or a complete 2D team, which is why we created Weird Loop. Our Art Directors, having delivered in diverse and inspiring environments, offer the versatility, creativity, and flexibility to make your project shine.

Although every context is unique, here is the general way we operate.

01

UNDERSTAND THE CONTEXT

• Analyze the creative direction needs.

• Assess the project's current status regarding creative objectives.

• Evaluate technical means.

02

FIND BENCHMARKS & CREATE INITIAL MOODBOARD

• Perform "wide" research: gather benchmarks & classic references from the same medium and beyond.

• Create a general moodboard covering key aspects: tone, characters, environments, creatures, VFX, UI, lighting, etc.

• Animate a workshop with the creative team to review various possibilities.

• Draft target Art Direction.

SYNTHESIZE GENERAL ART DIRECTION GUIDELINES

• If needed, conduct additional workshops to refine specific artistic choices, taking into account organizational and technical challenges.

• Ensure consistency with other creative aspects (gameplay, narration, audio, etc.) to find the best compromises.

04

PRODUCE DETAILED ART DIRECTION GUIDELINES

• Write final guidelines

• Write Do's and Don'ts for each aspect of art direction.

• Provide reference concepts for in-house or outsourced artists.

• Develop sample concepts for investors or marketing.
